Gold Ring Found!
In early October, with the primary 2021 summer salvage field season on the 1715 fleet wreck sites being over, Capt. Mike Maguire and his crew aboard the M/V Hook (C-12) found a day when they could get out on site for a while. While sea conditions were marginal, they were still able to recover a high carat gold ring at Corrigan’s Wreck (8IR19/S25). The ring is a plain gold band mounting a semiprecious stone that is most probably quartzite. After its long submersion in the high energy, shallow water, marine environment, the stone has become quite worn, losing most of its original luster and clarity. Still a beautiful find from the 1715 fleet!! Congratulations Capt. Mike and crew.
