

8 Reales and other artifacts found by Capitana
The first silver coins of the 2017 field season were recovered this past Saturday by Capt. Jonah Martinez and the crew of the M/V Capitana. Two silver eight reales were found, with new Capitana crew member Grant Gitschlag making his first silver coin find. Along with the silver coins musket and pistol shot, lead sheathing, Olive Jar body sherds and encrusted objects were also recovered. Aarrr Booty recovers Kang Hsi porcelain
Capt. Eric Schmitt and the crew of the M/V Aarrr Booty continue excavations in the northern most extremities of the Douglas Beach Wreck site's known debris field. Yesterday's field excavations yielded a beautiful piece of Kang Hsi export porcelain, which was recovered by diver Gavin Buck. The Douglas Beach "Gold Trail", first established in 1987/88 consisted primarily of Kang Hsi sherds, musket balls, gold jewelry, and over 1,000 gold coins and stretched for half a mile! Capt

New diver Ryan Johnson finds 6 musket balls his first time on the 1715 sites. But he didn't stop there.
